Graduate Assistantships
Each semester, the History Department offers a limited number (Roughly 5-6) of Graduate Research Assistantships to qualified students. These competitive positions require 20 hours per week of work in return for a monthly stipend.
What do Graduate Assistants do?
Students can be assigned to work at the East Texas Research Center to help process archival collections or work on an archival project.

Students can also be assigned to work in the History Department to assist a few professors in grading papers and discussion posts, complete research, and more!

What is the pay for a GRA?
The assigned History Department budget may not always be consistently the same, therefore the below numbers may not reflect what is offered in the future.
The GA monthly stipend has been around $1,025 a month for
20 hours a week of work.

Fall Semester - Four (4) equal installments to be released on the first university workday of October, November, December and January.
Spring Semester - Five (5) equal installments to be released on the first university workday of February, March, April, May and June.
SFA Benefits of Being a GA
As a GRA it does make you eligible for medical insurance and other benefits through SFA.

What Are Current GA's Doing?

Jordan & Jessica are currently working at the East Texas Research Center. They are working on a massive project to digitize and upload thousands of negative photographs for the Robinson Photograph Collection.
Hannah Lau, GRA & Eta Sigma Secretary

Hannah is currently working in the History Department grading discussion posts and papers for a couple professors. She is also conducting research for Dr. Sosebee in the East Texas Research Center.
