As of January 25, 2023, the Eta Sigma Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society located at Stephen F. Austin State University has an in-department tutoring program. The program is targeted towards history majors, minors, and public history minors that are taking any upper level history course. We have designed the tutoring program to help with upper level courses while the Academic Assistance and Resource Center (AARC) located in the Ralph Steen Library can help with the students enrolled in lower level or general education history courses.Â
What will we help with? I’m glad you asked! Our seven PAT members, a mix of graduate and undergraduate students, will help with the following areas: Paper Structuring, Chicago Style Citations, Research Tips/Help, Creating a PowerPoint and/or Paper Presentation, Book Reviews, Studying, and anything else related to the course. Each of the seven PAT tutors will be available for an hour a week, for every week of the semester, which will create nearly 80 different opportunities for history students to receive help from their peers! Students that wish to attend one of the tutoring sessions do not have to make an appointment! The tutors will already be in the pre-selected room waiting for students to come to them, just show up and receive the help you may need!
For the tutoring schedule, locations, and any changes/cancellations can be found on our homepage calendar. Below is the set schedule as well.
Come by and see us, we look forward to helping you! Â
*All advice and help given to students will adhere to the course’s academic standards located in the syllabus *
